The UpStart Award is an annual grant round of grants for emerging Victoria singer-songwriters. The award is funded by a music loving family in Melbourne, and the winners are decided by a panel of local music experts.

First prize is $10,000, second prize is $3,000 and third prize is $2,000. The remaining 7 artists in the top 10 will receive  $1,000 each.

You might still be busking, you may have recorded a few tracks or you might be playing pub gigs; but you’re not on the map yet.

Applications for the Upstart award open on July 25 and close August 31. The winner will be announced and interviewed on community radio in Mid-November.
